Checked 2 September 2026: H&M asks you to measure your chest “while wearing a bra that fits” — a rare and load-bearing caveat, because underwear moves that girth by centimetres. Their guide is split into eight sections, two of which are separate PETITE and MATERNITY ladders — a different height and a different body.

What to do when your measurements land in different rows

That is normal, not a bad measurement: the chart is built on a standard figure, and a real body does not always match its proportions. For bottoms, take the larger of the two sizes and have it taken in — a waist is easier to take in than hips are to let out. For tops, the bust measurement leads.

How to measure your bust, waist and hips

The tape stays horizontal and lies flat without digging in. Measure the bust at its fullest point, the waist at its narrowest — not at the waistband of your jeans — and the hips at their widest. Breathe normally: a held-in stomach gives a size that does not work out in the fitting room.
